Improving Pennsylvania Bittercress Weed Control Efficacy with Mulch and Herbicide in Containers

چکیده

Pennsylvania bittercress ( Cardamine pensylvanica ) and other species are among the most common difficult-to-control weed in container nurseries, they have been vouched counties Florida. Preemergence herbicides can provide control, but concerns over potential resistance development, environmental issues, crop injury problems associated with herbicide use create need for alternative control methods to be explored. Previous studies shown of mulch materials controlling weeds their along preemergence has not extensively investigated. To compare effects different on a full factorial designed greenhouse study was conducted. Three treatments including no mulch, pine Pinus sp.) bark, rice Oryza sativa hulls were evaluated three treatments, water (i.e., herbicide), isoxaben, prodiamine applied at label rates. Twenty-five seeds sown surface each emergence (percent), coverage (square centimeters), seedhead number, biomass (grams) measured. The results showed that containers mulched had lowest throughout experiment. For coverage, seedhead, parameters, seeded significantly lower fewer seedheads, compared those nonmulched or bark regardless treatment. With isoxaben check, highest coverage/seedhead/biomass, whereas prodiamine, coverage/seedhead/biomass. In conclusion, applying alone better alone.

Mesotrione – a New Herbicide for Weed Control in Maize

Six field trials were conducted over three growing seasons to evaluate both pre-and post-emergence applications of the recently developed herbicide mesotrione, for weed control in maize. As a pre-emergence treatment it provided excellent control of broadleaf weeds (>99% reduction in dry matter) but was poor on grass weeds (ca 80% reduction). However, its combination with atrazine, s-metolachlor...

Reduced herbicide rates for an effective weed control in competitive wheat cultivars

A study was carried out over 2 years (2008/2009 and 2009/2010) in Greece, in order to evaluate the weed control using reduced rates of the herbicide mesosulfuron-methyl+iodosulfuron-methyl-sodium of four major weeds (Avena sterilis, Phalaris minor, Papaver rhoeas and Sinapis arvensis), grain yield and yield components of five wheat cultivars (Bob, Cosmodur, Meridiano, Quadrato and Simeto). Integrated Weed Management in Potato Using Straw Mulch and Atrazine

Potato (Solanum tuberosum) is one of fourmajor food crops in the world. Weed control is a major component in potato production and has been accomplished using different methods, including but not limited to the use of herbicides and straw mulch. A combination of preemergence herbicide and straw mulch may improve weed control; however, no information is available for combining both methods, alon...

Effect of Brassica Cover Crops and Hazelnut Husk Mulch on Weed Control in Hazelnut Orchards

Weed management is critical in hazelnut (Corylus avellana) production. Weeds reduce nutrient availability, interfere with tree growth, and reduce handharvesting efficiency. Field experiments were conducted from Fall 2006 to 2010 to test effects of brassica (Brassica sp.) cover crops and hazelnut husk mulch as alternative weed management strategies in hazelnut. The cover crop treatments consiste...
